The short answer
For most people, the realme Watch 5 (₹4,499) is the one to buy. It has a large AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, a compass and Bluetooth calling, and realme claims 16 days per charge. If you swim, or want GPS for less money, get the Redmi Watch 5 Lite (₹3,999), which adds a 5ATM water rating. For the sharpest screen, choose the CMF Watch Pro 2 (₹4,999). On a tight budget, the Redmi Watch Move (₹2,499) still gives you an AMOLED screen and calling.
This guide is for anyone with up to ₹5,000 for a smartwatch. You might want it for step counts and sleep tracking, for taking calls while your phone stays in your pocket, or for mapping your morning walk or run. Every pick is on sale in India right now, and the regular selling price of the version we name is ₹5,000 or less.
Here’s how we chose. Specs for the Redmi Watch 5 Active and Redmi Watch Move come from Xiaomi’s India product pages. The rest come from launch reports and Reliance Digital’s spec sheets, because the realme and Nothing India pages we could open list only a handful of specs. Battery figures are the brands’ own claims. We also kept in mind the questions that come up at Mobivault, our founder Lokesh Rathore’s phone shop in Bhopal, when people shop for a watch in this range: does it have real GPS, how long does the battery last, can I take calls on it, and will it work with my iPhone? We haven’t tested these watches ourselves, so this is a research-based guide.
We checked prices on 11 October 2026, without bank-card offers. Flipkart’s Big Billion Days and Amazon’s festive sale are on, and several of these watches are cheaper than usual for now. We picked them on their regular price, meaning the brand or Reliance Digital price, or the price trackers recorded just before the sale. Where the sale price is lower, we show it separately.

Our picks
#1 Best overall
realme Watch 5
- 1.97-inch AMOLED · 600 nits
- Built-in GPS + compass
- Bluetooth calling
- 16 days (brand claim)
This is the newest watch here, launched in December 2025, and the most complete package for the money. You get the biggest AMOLED screen in this guide, built-in GPS that uses five satellite systems, a compass, Bluetooth calling and an IP68 rating. realme claims 16 days per charge in normal use and 20 days in its Light Mode. Reliance Digital’s listing says about 6 days with the always-on display switched on. A Mac4ever review found it works as well with an iPhone as with Android, but noted it doesn’t sync workouts to Strava.
- Built-in GPS and a compass, so you can leave the phone at home on a walk or run
- Largest AMOLED screen in this guide
- Newest model here, sold on Flipkart and at Reliance Digital
- IP68 rather than a 5ATM rating; the Redmi Watch 5 Lite is the better pick for swimmers
- No Strava sync, according to the Mac4ever review
- ₹3,999 is a sale price; Reliance Digital charges ₹4,499
₹4,499 (₹3,999 in the Flipkart sale)
#2 Best AMOLED display
CMF Watch Pro 2 (Dark Grey or Ash Grey)
- 1.32-inch AMOLED · 466 × 466
- 620 nits · auto-brightness
- Built-in GPS
- 11 days (brand claim)
If you want a round watch that looks like a regular watch, this is the one. Its 1.32-inch AMOLED screen is the sharpest and brightest in this guide, at 466 × 466 pixels (353 PPI) and 620 nits. An ambient light sensor adjusts the brightness for you. It also has built-in GPS, Bluetooth calling with AI noise reduction, IP68 protection and 120+ sports modes. According to its launch report, the CMF Watch app syncs with Strava, Apple Health and Google Health Connect. The bezel is interchangeable, and a bezel-and-strap set was priced at ₹749 at launch.
- Sharpest, brightest screen here, with automatic brightness
- Built-in GPS, with workouts syncing to Strava
- Aluminium body with interchangeable bezels
- Shortest battery claim in this guide (11 days)
- Smaller screen means smaller text than the square watches
- Only the grey silicone versions fit the budget; Blue and Orange (vegan leather) cost ₹5,499 at Reliance Digital
₹4,999 (₹3,799 in the Flipkart sale)
#3 Best for fitness and GPS
Redmi Watch 5 Lite
- Built-in GPS (5 systems)
- 5ATM
- 1.96-inch AMOLED · 600 nits
- 18 days (brand claim)
For runners, walkers and swimmers, this is the best value here. Its built-in GPS uses five systems (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS), and the 5ATM rating (50 metres) is the one to look for if you swim in a pool. You also get a large AMOLED screen, 150+ sports modes and Bluetooth calling with two-mic noise cancellation. Xiaomi claims 18 days with typical use and 12 with heavy use, which ties for the longest battery claim in this guide. It launched in September 2024, so it isn’t new. When we checked, it was on sale at Reliance Digital and on Amazon (going by PriceBefore’s tracker), but Flipkart’s search didn’t show it and Xiaomi’s India store no longer has a product page for it.
- Built-in GPS and a 5ATM rating together for ₹3,999
- Joint-longest battery claim in this guide
- Works with Android 8.0+ and iOS 12.1+, per Reliance Digital’s spec sheet
- Older model (September 2024)
- Not on Flipkart or Xiaomi’s own store when we checked
₹3,999 (₹3,699 in the Amazon sale)
#4 Best battery life and calling for less
Redmi Watch 5 Active
- 18 days (brand claim)
- 3-mic calling
- 2-inch LCD · 500 nits
- No GPS
This watch makes the same battery claim as the Redmi Watch 5 Lite, 18 days typical and 12 days heavy, for ₹1,300 less. It is also built for calls, with three microphones and noise cancellation, a speaker and Alexa built in. The case is zinc alloy. You give up the AMOLED screen, because this one is LCD, and it has no GPS of its own, so it can’t map a run by itself. Xiaomi’s India spec page rates it IPX8 and describes the test as 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes. That covers rain, sweat and hand-washing, but it isn’t a swim rating, even though Flipkart’s listing shows 50 metres. Don’t take it swimming.
- Cheapest way to get an 18-day battery claim in this guide
- Three-mic noise cancellation for calls
- Big 2-inch screen with metal case
- LCD, not AMOLED
- No built-in GPS
- IPX8 only, so not for swimming
₹2,699
#5 Best budget pick
Redmi Watch Move
- 1.85-inch AMOLED · 600 nits
- Bluetooth calling
- 14 days (brand claim)
- IP68
This is the cheapest AMOLED screen in this guide. The 1.85-inch display is curved at the edges, rated at 600 nits, and supports always-on mode. You also get Bluetooth calling, heart-rate, SpO2, stress and sleep tracking, and 140+ sports modes. Xiaomi claims 14 days with typical use and 10 with heavy use, and launch reports say about 5 days with always-on display. It’s made in India. There’s no GPS, and IP68 is not a swim rating: Xiaomi says it suits rain and similar conditions. Xiaomi’s India warranty page lists 1 year (not covering the strap), but Reliance Digital’s listing shows only 6 months, so check the warranty card and keep the bill.
- AMOLED screen and calling for about ₹2,500, or less in the sale
- Light, at 39 g with the strap
- No built-in GPS
- Reliance Digital’s listing shows 6 months of warranty, not Xiaomi’s 1 year
- Plastic case
₹2,499 (₹1,999–₹2,199 in the Flipkart and Amazon sales)
Note: The CMF Watch 3 Pro adds dual-band GPS, but it costs ₹5,999 on Flipkart even during the sale, so it is over this budget.
How to choose a smartwatch under ₹5,000
Check for “built-in” GPS, not just “GPS”
Watches with built-in GPS, also called independent GPS, can map a walk, run or ride while your phone stays at home. In this guide, that means the realme Watch 5, the CMF Watch Pro 2 and the Redmi Watch 5 Lite. Without it, the watch guesses distance from your steps, which is fine for daily step counts but less accurate for runs. The Redmi Watch 5 Active and Redmi Watch Move have no GPS of their own, and we couldn’t confirm whether their app can borrow your phone’s GPS (known as connected GPS) during a workout. Some listings mention GPS loosely, so look for “built-in” or “independent” GPS in the spec sheet. None of our five picks advertises dual-band GPS, which helps most among tall buildings.
Health readings are estimates, not medical tests
Every pick tracks heart rate, SpO2 (blood oxygen) and sleep with light-based sensors on the back. These are useful for spotting trends, such as a resting heart rate that creeps up during a stressful week. They are not medical devices. Xiaomi’s page for the Redmi Watch 5 Active says so plainly, and none of the pages we checked describes any of these watches as one. Readings can be off if the strap is loose, if you are moving, or if your hands are cold. Never use a watch’s SpO2 or heart-rate number to decide whether you or a family member needs a doctor. Use a proper pulse oximeter, and if you feel unwell, get medical advice.
IP68 and 5ATM are not the same
IP68 means the watch is sealed against dust and can survive being under water in a test. It handles rain, sweat and hand-washing. IPX8, the Redmi Watch 5 Active’s rating, is the same kind of immersion test without a dust rating. 5ATM is a water-pressure rating, and it’s the rating to look for if you swim. In this guide, only the Redmi Watch 5 Lite lists 5ATM. Whichever watch you buy, keep it away from hot showers, saunas and diving.
Read battery claims carefully
The day counts in this guide are the brands’ own claims for “typical” use. GPS workouts, lots of calls and the always-on display all shorten them. For example, Xiaomi claims 14 days for the Redmi Watch Move, but launch reports say it lasts about 5 with always-on display, and realme’s 20-day figure for the Watch 5 applies only in its Light Mode. A sensible expectation is about a week or more of real use from any of these, with always-on display switched off.
iPhone users: check the app first
All five picks work with iPhones through the brand’s app, but the details differ. Xiaomi’s India pages list iOS 12.0 or later for the Redmi Watch 5 Active and Redmi Watch Move, Reliance Digital lists iOS 12.1 or later for the Redmi Watch 5 Lite, CMF’s launch details list iOS 13 or later, and the realme Link app on the App Store needs iOS 15.6 or later. Xiaomi’s app is called Mi Fitness, and some reports call it Xiaomi Wear. Before you buy, install the app on your phone and make sure it opens.
What to ignore
- Inflated MRPs: Flipkart lists the realme Watch 5 with a ₹7,999 MRP, for example, but its regular selling price is ₹4,499. Compare selling prices and ignore the “% off”.
- Too-good-to-be-true listings: sale searches also turn up unknown brands promising AMOLED screens and calling for a few hundred rupees. Stick to brands with service centres and a clear warranty.
- Watch-face counts and “AI” labels: 200 or 300 watch faces don’t matter much. Screen quality, GPS, battery and the app matter far more.
Mobivault shop note: Whether you buy in a shop or open a delivery at home, run these checks on the day you get the watch:
- Make sure the box seal is intact and the charging cable is inside. Watches like these usually charge through their own magnetic cable, so you can’t simply borrow a phone charger’s cable.
- Pair the watch with your phone the same day, install any watch update in the app, and make one test call to check the microphone and speaker.
- Ask for a GST bill with the date and model name, and check how long the warranty is. Six months and one year are both common, so don’t assume.
- Wear the watch snug, about a finger’s width above the wrist bone. A loose strap is a common cause of odd heart-rate readings.
Our pick
Most people should buy the realme Watch 5 (₹4,499). It is the newest watch here and covers the important things: a big AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, calling and a long battery claim. Choose the Redmi Watch 5 Lite if you swim or want GPS for less money, the CMF Watch Pro 2 for the best screen in a round design, the Redmi Watch 5 Active for battery and calls on a smaller budget, and the Redmi Watch Move if you want the cheapest AMOLED watch.
- Buy the realme Watch 5 if you want one watch that does it all, with GPS for walks and runs without your phone.
- Skip it if you swim (get the Redmi Watch 5 Lite) or want your workouts in Strava (get the CMF Watch Pro 2).
FAQ
Which is the best smartwatch under ₹5,000 right now?
For most people it’s the realme Watch 5, at a regular price of ₹4,499 on 11 October 2026. It has a 1.97-inch AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, a compass and Bluetooth calling. If you swim, the Redmi Watch 5 Lite (₹3,999) is the better choice because of its 5ATM rating.
Do I need built-in GPS?
Only if you walk, run or cycle and want accurate distance and a route map without carrying your phone. For step counts, sleep, notifications and calls, a watch without GPS, like the Redmi Watch 5 Active or Redmi Watch Move, is enough.
Are smartwatch SpO2 and heart-rate readings accurate?
They are good enough to show trends, but they aren’t medical readings. Fit, movement and cold skin can all throw them off. If a reading worries you, check with a proper pulse oximeter and speak to a doctor.
Will these smartwatches work with an iPhone?
Yes. All five pair with iPhones through their apps: realme Link, the CMF Watch app or Mi Fitness. Check the minimum iOS version first. The realme Link app needs iOS 15.6 or later, while the CMF and Redmi models list older versions.
Should I buy now in the sale?
If the watch you want is cheaper in the sale, yes. Four of our five picks were below their regular price when we checked. Just pick the watch that fits your needs first, and don’t settle for a weaker one because its discount is bigger.
