Here is how TechMitra decides what to write about, verifies facts, works with AI tools and puts errors right.
The kinds of articles we publish
- How-To & Fixes: solutions to genuine problems, with every step written and verified on devices available to us.
- Buying guides: recommendations for a particular budget or purpose, showing the date on which prices were checked.
- Comparisons: two products weighed against each other, covering who each one is right for and our reasoning.
- Explainers: technology and specifications broken down in simple language.
- Reviews: written only about products we have genuinely used, so you will not see many of them.
Honest labels on every article
Just below each article’s title sits a single label that tells you how the piece was made:
- Research-based · not tested: put together from official specs, prices and other published material. We have not used the product ourselves.
- Specs comparison · not tested: the products’ official specifications laid out next to each other.
- Tested on our own device: every step and screenshot was captured on a device we personally used.
- In-store hands-on: we spent a brief period with the product at our shop. This is not a full review.
- Hands-on · used X days: the product served as our everyday device for the stated number of days, and we disclose where that unit came from.
Phrases such as “in our testing” or “we tested” only appear when the testing really happened.
How we check facts
Specs are matched against each brand’s official India website. For service steps, we go to the official page of the carrier, the brand or the government whenever such a page exists. Any price we quote carries the date it was checked. Rumours and launch dates that have not been confirmed are never presented as fact.
Where AI fits in
AI tools play a supporting role here: they help with research, early drafts and fact-checking. Nothing goes live until each fact, figure and price has been verified with official sources and Lokesh has gone through the article, adding first-hand knowledge from the shop. Our own screenshots or photos go in whenever we have them. Recommendations are always a human decision, and AI is not allowed to make up specs, prices or test results. Product photos are never AI-generated, and if we use an illustration made with AI, it is labelled as such. At the end of every article you will find a brief “How we made this” note.
Our independence from brands
No brand can pay its way into a guide or up a ranking, and brands do not get to preview articles before publication. Should we ever run sponsored content, it will carry a “Sponsored” label at the top. TechMitra’s owner also runs Mobivault, a phone shop in Bhopal that stocks some of the products we cover. This does not influence our picks, and articles where it is relevant say so.
Keeping articles current, and fixing mistakes
Buying guides and other price-led articles get regular reviews and are refreshed whenever prices or our recommendations shift. The “Updated” date moves only after a meaningful change to the content, and a note explains what was changed. Spotted an error? Let us know via our contact page. Once an error is confirmed, it is fixed as quickly as possible and the correction is noted on the article.
Photos and images
Whenever we can, we use photos and screenshots we took ourselves. A brand’s press images appear only to show that brand’s own product, and they always carry a credit. Pictures lifted from other websites are never used.
